Hold up ! Yes I’m talking about #Beyonce.
I think I am one of many when I say that her album Lemonade resonated with me. I mean which girl hasn’t felt like she was fooled by a boy before only to find out he wasn’t who she thought he was.
Cue sorrow, anger and whole lot of minutes spent on the phone with your friends.
The only difference between Beyonce and us common mortals is that we don’t get to get over our heart aches wearing a Roberto Cavalli number. But that doesn’t mean you can’t find a sassy yellow dress to put on when you feel like mentally smashing stuff with your baseball bat (emphasis on the ‘mentally smashing’- I don’t want to be held responsible) and showing the world what you’re made of.
And that was what drew me to this yellow over the shoulder number from Asos. It’s flowy, perfect for summer, and better yet if I have some struggles to face that day, I know I can channel Queen B and have my own ‘Lemonade’ moment.
Dare I say it, wearing a yellow dress is actually the best post break up outfit. Trust me, you can’t feel down strutting down the streets when you look like sunshine- their loss!
Now if that’t not enough to make you feel fierce, I suggest buying a ridiculously colourful mini bag. Yes it’s so small it literally only fits my phone, my bank & oyster cards & if I’m lucky a tampon or two. But how cute does this beaded clutch from Zara look and who needs to carry a whole huge bag when you can have something that fits in your hand. It will also give your shoulders a break if 5 days out 7 like me you carry your house around you. Not quite sure if this is supposed to be a penguin or a toucan, I have decided it is mix of the two. Let me introduce you to the #touguin bag. Not sure David Attenborough would approve, but as long as it’s putting a smile on my face, I will adopt it gladly.
So there you have it, an outfit for the days where all you want to do is Lemonading. You can feel strong, you can feel independent, you can feel fierce and most importantly you can feel happy.
